I found it!

When I was driving down to Florida with family this past Christmas, we made a stop in Blenheim, South Carolina at a rest stop. Looking around for something to drink, I came across Blenheim Ginger Ale. Being a sucker for Ginger Ale, I grabbed a bottle and let me tell you, it puts all other ginger ales to shame. The only problem is, it's no where to be found up here with us Yankees, so you have to order it online...but it's worth it! It comes in Mild or Hot...I had the Mild (only because my family wasn't daring enough to try the Hot), but I'm sure both are equally as good. What local drinks are in your area?

Adobe CS3

This video was in a competition for AdobeYouCG. Very cool, I can't imagine the preparation, time and effort this took!

Ooh La La

Today, for the second day in a row, I'm in bed sick, not at work. I woke up groggy and still feeling ill, but I looked at a picture on my wall of Cedar Lane Way in Beacon Hill, and immediately got the travel bug. I usually start getting antsy to jet off to Europe around this time every year, when it's getting a little warmer out and I think of people bustling around in foreign cities around the globe. So, here are some lovely pictures of the city of love. Enjoy xo

Recipe Rewind

I spotted this recipe on the NYT website and these luscious caramels date back to 1881! They are made using simple ingredients, but I might give them a try this weekend and add some kosher salt on top for an interesting twist. What recipes do you like to revamp?

YUM

It's a cold, snowy day here in Boston, so I came home from work craving some comfort food, so I thought...mac and cheese! I grabbed some skim milk from the store and came back to see what else I had and came up with this super creamy, spicy pepperjack mac. I really don't measure that much when I cook, but here's my recipe. Make it the next time you're in the mood for something cozy.
1 cup whole wheat short pasta of your choice (I used rigatoni and mine was already cooked)
1/2 cup skim milk & 1/2 cup chicken stock mixed (I eyeballed this)
1 tblsp. butter
1 tblsp. Extra Virgin olive oil
1 tblsp. flour
1/4 diced onion
5 slices reduced fat pepperjack cheese
as much cayenne pepper as you'd like

Heat the olive oil and butter in a small skillet and heat for 1 minute. Add diced onion and let sweat for 3 minutes. Add flour and whisk together for 3-5 minutes. Turn up heat and cook milk and chicken stock until it bubbles. Reduce heat, stir until thickened. Add cheese and stir until smooth. Add noodles and stir to combine. DEVOUR!

Anthony in my Abode

Ok, so he didn't actually go to my house, but he was pretty close! Anthony Bourdain, chef, author, TV personality voyaged to the Hudson Valley for a taste of what upstate New York has to offer. Being an avid fan of his raw, biting humor, and his show, "No Reservations," I was ecstatic when I learned he would be doing a show on my neck of the woods. Watch as he goes to the Culinary Institute of America, among other foodie locations.

Pretty Pancakes

How yummy do these pancakes look? They make me want to whip up a plate right now. Pancakes make any weekend a little bit brighter. What are your favorite weekend treats?
